"In spring of 2004, Blue Hill at Stone Barns opened within the Stone Barns Center for Food and Agriculture in Pocantico Hills, New York. The Barbers helped create the philosophical and practical framework for Stone Barns Center, a working four-season farm and educational center just 30 miles north of New York City, and continue to help guide it in its mission to create a consciousness about the effect of everyday food choices."

The Buzz about Bees
"See our colorful hives? Our bees do too! Bees see in the ultraviolet spectrum, so these bright colors may help them to identify which hive is theirs. The paint also preserves the structures, help our farmers identify diseases in the hives, and reduce solar gain, keeping the hives cooler in the summer.
"Maybe you noticed the shape of our apiary fence. If it looks familiar, that's because it's the same shape as a honeycomb cell. And if you want to know why our hives are located here, the morning sun in this spot gives bees an early start to their busy day - especially in the colder seasons - and gives them proximity to water, afternoon shade, and abundant windbreaks.
