From City of Beacon: ". . . Pete and Toshi were mainstays of the Beacon community for generations and were instrumental in many of the efforts to clean up the Hudson River and improve the community. One of those efforts was the conversion of the city's landfill on the Hudson into what is now the riverfront park.

"The Riverfront Park is best known as the site of the Beacon Sloop Club's Strawberry, Corn and Pumpkin Festivals, at which Pete and Toshi were always to be seen - organizing, pitching in, singing and inspiring.

"It is highly fitting that this park through naming can continue to inspire future generations for the issues that mattered for Pete and Toshi - preserving the environment, advocating for social justice, celebrating through music and creating outdoor enjoyment for all."
