Albany Therapeutic Riding Center, providing therapeutic riding for over 34 years, is located at 182 Martin Road Extension, Voorheesville, NY 12186 in Albany County.

From Albany Therapeutic Riding: "Located at the base of the Helderberg Escarpment in the Town of New Scotland, Albany Therapeutic Riding Center, Inc. (ATRC) has provided equine therapy services since 1981, as the first equine therapy center in our area. We are certified through the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International (PATH).

"We are dedicated to assisting our students of all ages, from youth to seniors, in gaining confidence, muscular and cognitive development, speech improvement, and other benefits through therapeutic riding. Our Certified Riding Instructor has over 35 years of experience and continuously hones her skills through ongoing education. We operate on a modest budget and are powered by our outstanding volunteers. Please explore our site, and contact us, for additional information. "Albany Therapeutic Riding Center offers customized therapeutic riding services to individuals from youth to adults. Programs are developed based upon the individual needs of the student. We work on a range of goals to assist in addressing specific areas including but not limited to muscular, cognitive, speech/communication, listening skills, anxiety/stress reduction, and other objectives. Students come to us from a range of backgrounds and, together, we strive for success on each one's own terms. Private lessons last approximately one hour and are typically held on one weekday and one weekend day. Lessons are weather dependent, as they are held outdoors. Programs are flexible and custom-tailored to need."

We welcome students from youth to senior citizens.

We welcome students in residential programs to participate.

We are veteran friendly and welcome disabled veterans to come for lessons or to volunteer.

Fees are on a sliding scale.

People with a wide range of challenges may be aided by therapeutic horseback riding.

Farm Friends
Coming out to the farm is a special experience for our students. They enjoy interacting with the sheep and other animals that live here. There are many opportunities to assist students in learning empathy, in improving communication, and in becoming aware of the world around them. Students sometimes enjoy feeding or petting their farm friends, under our close supervision. It is nice to hear our students greeting the animals on their way to lessons. Hi Isabelle! Hi Big Brown!
